Democrats want to lower the detention beds from 49,057 to 40,520 arguing that fewer beds would force ICE away from detaining illegal immigrants who commit lower crimes because they’d have to use them for those who pose more serious threats.
Democrats believe that they have really given in on this debate because their original goal was to lower the beds to 35,520 vs 40,520.
But if part of the humanitarian crisis about which Democrats are bemoaning is generated by too few beds in general, then why lose the advantage of a remedy by turning it into a pressure tactic on ICE just to release that many more illegals into the general population?
Is it because illegals represent that many more imported votes to be camouflaged?
